"Mikey" is short for Michael Schnippering.  Mike received a degree in economics during his college days in Germany. He went on to study art at the Kunstacademie in Düsseldorf. In the U.S., Mike studied solution sales and marketing and received his certification from the program. By listening one finds the needs of the customer and by asking the right questions, one finds the needs behind those needs. Mike is an intensive listener and not a big talker.

He believes in the community. He has supported the Toys for Tots program for years and has worked with Habitat for Humanity (www.habitat.org ). In fact, that work led him to build his dream house and use techniques for energy efficiency and home design he learned there. His home was featured on HGTV and in various articles. He knows what to look for in a home that makes it unique.

His career has been varied. He led the international division of a shipping company with worldwide operations. He took this knowledge to help a company start its logistics business in the U.S. Later, he has started his own businesses. He really knows the value of a buck.

Mike's family had come to Chicago at the end of WWII and Mike's mom was born there. She returned to Germany with him to be rejoined with her immediate family and help with the reconstruction. Over the years, Mike visited his aunt and uncle in Chicago and decided to immigrate to the U.S. where he obtained his U.S. citizenship. His desire to be near his family s what got him to Florida (cousins, etc. had moved from Chicago) and he looks back on that decision as one of the best in his life.

Mike is a lover of Jeeps. The one you see now is the latest incarnation and the one you might see Mike driving around in. This is his third one thus far.

Having been raised on a small farm, he has dogs around him all his life. Some 10 years ago, he got introduced to the Basenjis ( www.basenji.org ). He has been involved with helping the rescue dog efforts of a Basenji club for a long time. The latest pair is Blitz and Kodai.  The pictures:  Topaz, Blitz & Kodai (we lost Topaz in Feb. 2010), Topaz & Blitz, and Topaz with Rugby (we lost him in Oct. 2001).
